Postscript

In order to hold this seminar and exhibition of Professor Shi Yurens ceramic art, many people enthusiastically showed their support and helped very much. First of all, I would like to show my appreciation to professor Carla Coch from the U.S.A. She has spent the past 10 years building bridges between the U.S. and China and attending to research about the life and work of Professor Shi Yuren. These activities have been carried out thanks to her initiative and hard work. The organizer of this activity is the Chinese Academy of Arts. It is very unusual, but much appreciated, for a well-known academic institution to organize an art exhibition and seminar for a late professor. Therefore, I want to show my thanks to the Academys president Wang Wenzhang for his strong support. In addition, I would like to thank the professors and the leaders from Shi Yurens alma mater, the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts, many of whom were Professor Shis colleagues and teachers. In particular, we received much help from the former presidents of this Academy, Chang Shana and Li Mianlu, plus former members Zhang Shouzhi, Jin Baosheng, Chen Ruoju, Hu Meisheng, and others. Gratitude must also be extended to the leaders and members from Professor Shis original workplace, Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute: Zhou Jianer and Qin Xilin, He Bingqin, Ning Gang, Lv Jinquan, Zhang Yalin, and others. Thanks also to Ms. Huang Yenfen from the United States for her wonderful translations accomplished in such a timely fashion, to Jane Howe in the US for her translations from English to Chinese, and to Bao Lin (Laobao), the photographer of Professor Shis ceramic works. In addition, I would like to thank Fang Lili, Qiu Chunlin, and Fu Jinghua, all from the co-organizer, the Art Association of Anthropology of the Chinese Academy of Arts. This project has also received much support from Professor Shis students who wrote commemorative articles and have gathered in Beijing from all over the country. Thanks also go to Tang Yong, secretary of the Ceramic Research Center, who handled many specific arrangements and worked hard throughout the entire process. Wen Shuqin, secretary of the Art Creation Center, did a great deal of important detail work for us. Finally, Miss Huang Runjuan helped to facilitate all aspects of this project from the very beginning ten years ago; I wish to thank her very much for all that she has done. In short, thanks to everyone who contributed to these activities. May Professor Shi Yuren rest in peace and contentment!
