独立（瓷雕）产生这件作品的时代背景是20世纪60年代初期，非洲很多国家摆脱殖民统治纷纷独立。作者在这如火如荼的形势鼓舞下，用瓷雕表现一个亭亭玉立的非洲妇女在独立后成为自由人的自豪情感。头顶着水罐增加了高度，更增强了顶天立地之势，这种造型本身就具有了主题中的独立的含义。作者运用高温颜色釉来装饰瓷雕正是从这件作品开始的，具有划时代的意义。
Being independent  material:porcelain clay  size: 70cm×16cm
　　Being independent was created in earlier 1960s when many African countries gained independence from colonial dominion. Being inspired by the flaring international situation, the author created the sculpture to represent African women’s sense of pride of being independent. The urn on the woman’s head adds loftiness to the sculpture and this molding itself implies the theme of independence. Author’s epoch-making   application of high-temperature colored glaze to porcelain sculpture begins from this work.
